নিচের শব্দগুলো Words and Phrases হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়:
(Was born, have to/has to, would rather, had better, let alone, as soon as, what’s …like, what does…like, introductory ‘there’ or ‘it’ no sooner had, lest, if, would you mind, )
** Was born: এর ব্যবহার:
# জন্মসাল, জন্মস্থান ও পরিবারের কথা উল্লেখ থাকলে blank এর মধ্যে was born বসবে যেমন,
· Kazi Nazrul Islam – in an impoverished family. He had to earn even when he was a small boy. (Dinajpur Board=2017
Let alone এর ব্যবহার:
· Blank এর পূর্বে ছোট ও পরে বড় অর্থ প্রকাশ করে তখন Blank এর মধ্যে let alone বসবে ।· অথবা, blank এর পূর্বে ও পরে যদি সমজাতীয় অর্থ প্রকাশ করে তাহলে ও blank এর মধ্যে ও let alone বসবে।
The economical condition of Robi is very poor. He can not afford one meal per day- square meal. (Dinajpur Board= 2017)
( Robi যেখানে এক বেলা ভাত খেতে পারে না সেখানে আবার ভাল খাবার, তাই এখানে let alone বসবে)
I met him ten years ago. I can hardly recall his name-his address. (Barisal Board=2017)
আমি তার সাথে দশ বছর পূর্বে দেখা করেছিলাম, আমি তার নাম কদাচিৎ পড়ে আবার ঠিকানা, তাই এখানে blank এর মধ্যে let alone বসবে ।)
#would rather এর ব্যবহার:
Sentence এর মধ্যে যদি than থাকে এর পরে যদি sub না থাকে তাহলে
blank এর মধ্যে would rather বসবে । আর যদি subject থাকে তাহলে no sooner had বসবে
। যেমন, You – build your own house than live in a rented house. House rent has
increased much now-a-days.( Barisal Board=2017)
( এখানে than শব্দটির পরে subject নেই, তাই blank এর মধ্যে
would rather বসবে)
The students
were loitering in the corridor. – they seen the teacher than they entered the
classroom.
(এখানে than শব্দটির পরে subject রয়েছে তাই blank এর মধ্যে
no sooner had বসবে)

What does…look like…/ What’s…like এর ব্যবহার:
Sentence এর মধ্যে যদি দুটি Blank থাকে এবং Sentence শেষ
“?” থাকে তাহলে Blank এর মধ্যে What does…look like… বসবে । যেমন: Rana:
Hi, Robi…a pea-cock…..?
Had better এর ব্যবহার:
Blank এর পরে যদি present form হয় এবং ভাল হওয়া অর্থ প্রকাশ করে তাহলে Blank এর মধ্যে had better বসবে ।
You –

(এখানে Blank এর পরে present form রয়েছে, Doctor এর সাথে পরামর্শ করা ভাল হবে অর্থ প্রকাশ করতেছে
তাই Blank এর মধ্যে had better বসবে)
It/ there এর ব্যবহার:
· Blank এর পরে যদি present form হয় এবং auxiliary verb এর singular form (is, has, was, had, will) হয় তাহলে Blank এর মধ্যে it বসবে । যেমন: … is a good idea to walk in the morning. One can take it as an important form of physical exercise, because it refreshes both the body and mind. (Dinajpur Board=2017)
এখানে Blank এর পরে auxiliary verb is হয়েছে যেটি singular form সুতরাং Blank এর মধ্যে it বসবে)
As
soon as এর ব্যবহার:
Blank এর পূর্বে ও পরে যদি past tense হয়
অথবা
Blank এর পূর্বে ও পরে যদি সমজাতীয় tense হয় তাহলে blank এর মধ্যে as soon as বসবে। যেমন: Time is very important in our life. You cannot prosper in life….you make proper use of time. (Cumilla Board=2017)(এখানে blank এর পূর্বে ও পরে একই tense হয়েছে তাই blank এর মধ্যে As soon as বসবে।)
Had better এর ব্যবহার:
Blank এর পরে present form এবং ভাল হওয়া অর্থ প্রকাশ করলে blank এর মধ্যে had better বসবে। He is sick. He - console with a doctor. (এখানে বলা হচেছ যে, সে অসুস্থ তাই তাকে ডাক্তারের সাথে পরামর্শ করা ভাল হবে তাই blank এর মধ্যে had better বসবে।
